How Landlord-Law can help Advisors
The idea reference tool for you!
Whether you are an advisor working for a Local Authority or other housing advice centre, a student union accommodation office, a Citizens Advice Bureau, or a solicitor, Landlord-Law is the ideal reference tool for you!
Andrew Gullett, Solicitor: "The service that you provide is excellent for all property professionals, including legal advisors"
Housing Law is complex and it is important that advice given to clients is accurate. You need a speedy and accurate source of information to help you.
Subscribing to Landlord-Law will give you:
- FAQHere is a list of all the FAQ sections - Answers to questions frequently asked by landlords and tenants
- Access to the Tenancy Trail - which will help you identify different types of tenancy (essential, as your advice will vary depending on what tenancy your client has)
- Information on possession proceedings - where it is all too easy to get things wrong by using the wrong paperwork
- Links to all the main housing related statutes and statutory instruments currently online
- regular articles on relevant subjects - sometimes these are interviews, sometimes they are on topical subjects, or just subjects of interest
- All members also receive a regular updating newsletter
- Monthly members (but not daily members) will have access to the members discussion forum
Annual Members in addition will gain access to:-
- Downloadable tenancy agreements, various types (ASTs, common law, company lets, guarantees etc)
- Downloadable Forms, including all the relevant possession notices with detailed instructions on their use
- Our cases database - reports of important legal cases on residential landlord and tenant law, with links to the full reports on the internet
- Fixed fee legal services - for example we can provide support for proceedings for possession, and draft all the necessary paperwork etc. Click here to see details of Tessa's past casework for clients (some of which are for advisors and solicitors).
Note - If you have a particular landlord and tenant related problem which is not covered in the online advice and information (and most problems are), and which you do not want to discuss in the forum, annual members can instruct Tessa via the members advice service to advise via email for £85.
David Lawrenson, property writer: "Tessa’s Landlord-Law is one of only three providers of services that I reference in my own book. That’s because she is good and really knows her stuff

Note: membership is on an individual basis and only the named member is entitled to access the service. However, if you are from a company where several people will need to access our service, we can offer deductions for corporate membership - please contact us for details giving the number of people who will be accessing the site from your organisation.
If you are a solicitor:
We have a
'Find a Property Solicitor' directory and are currently offering a free years entry to suitable firms. If your firm does property and landlord and tenant related work,
click here for more information and our application form.
'Poaching' - Many solicitors are reluctant to refer work away as they fear they may lose the client altogether to the new firm. However, if you have a landlord and tenant problem, Tessa is quite happy just to act as a consultant and advise. We do not wish to carry out other work for clients and will generally refer clients back to their original solicitors if they consult us for a second opinion. (NB the only other area of work done by Tessa's firm is employment tribunal work, which is strictly local to East Anglia).
Note - all information applies to the law in England and Wales only
We cannot help, for example, with rented property in the United States of America or Australia. Neither can we assist regarding property in Scotland and Northern Ireland in the UK as they have different legal systems. Click here for more information on Scottish law.
