About Landlord Law
Landlord-Law Online is written and run by solicitor author Tessa Shepperson, who specialises in residential landlord and tenant work. She practices as a solicitor in Norwich as TJ Shepperson.
The original Landlord-Law Online service was launched in June 2000 as an information site to support Tessa's work for landlords. However it was decided to re-develop this as a subscription informaton service for both landlords and tenants, and this service went live on 29 November 2001.
The site has seen several changes over the years. The most recent overhaul was in July 2008 when the whole appearance of the site changed dramatically, with a new colour scheme and navigation system. Tessa also started to use her (and her husband’s) photographs to illustrate the site, along with amusing cartoons from ‘Wil’ a local cartoonist.
Although Landlord-Law is a commercial site, it does not take advertising, apart from GoogleAds and Amazon book ads, and some paid for links and banners in the Weblinks section. Almost all our income comes from subscriptions, our online kits, and legal work for clients.
Tessa is greatly indebted to her regular web designer Gill Bishop of Bitenet Ltd (www.bitenet.co.uk) who has designed and created the technical framework for all versions of Landlord-Law, now a complex and very large site.
As well as running Landlord-Law, Tessa is also the author of Do-it-Yourself Residential Lettings and Renting: the Essential Guide to Tenants Rights, both published by Lawpack Publishing, and she is also on retainer as an adviser for Lawpack. She regularly gives talks on Residential Landlord and Tenant law to both landlords and to solicitors, and writes for property newsletters and the press.
As well as her own work, Tessa is also Honorary Secretary of her local Law Society, the Norfolk and Norwich Law Society.
Tessa works with her husband Graeme Gee (who specialises in employment law) and they live in Norwich with their son Patrick, aged eleven.
