About Landlord Law

Landlord-Law Online is written and run by solicitor author Tessa Shepperson, who specialises in residential landlord and tenant work. She practices as a solicitor in Norwich as TJ Shepperson.

The original Landlord-Law Online service was launched in June 2000 as an information site to support Tessa's work for landlords. However it was decided to re-develop this as a subscription information service for both landlords and tenants, and this service went live on 29 November 2001.  That site was very successful.  However after over eight years the software was getting out of date and it was felt that a new site was needed.

The current site went live on 14 December 2010. It contains much of the original content, updated, plus several new features including a new tenancy agreement service, and a much better forum.  Annual members can also now market their own service through our suppliers pages.

As well as running Landlord-Law, Tessa is also the author of Do-it-Yourself Residential Lettings and Renting: the Essential Guide to Tenants Rights, both published by Lawpack Publishing. She regularly gives talks on Residential Landlord and Tenant law to both landlords and to solicitors, and writes for property newsletters and the press.

Tessa works with her husband Graeme Gee (a Green Party Councillor for Norwich City Council) and they live in Norwich with their son Patrick, aged fourteen.

Credits / acknowledgments

Both this site and the Landlord Law site which proceeded it were created by Gill Bishop formerly of Bitenet, using the open source software Drupal.  Gill continues to work with Tessa on the development of the site.  The document generator software was created by Joop Van Duin who trades as Antbyte

Landlord-Law is the trading name for the online service provided by TJ Shepperson solicitors, of which Tessa Shepperson is the sole principal.
