About Landlord Law

Landlord-Law Online is the brain child of landlord & tenant lawyer and author Tessa Shepperson. Landlord Law members join online and then gain access to the extensive information and documents provided in the password protected part of the site.

There is also a members discussion forum where members can ask Tessa questions.

A bit of history

The original Landlord-Law Online service was launched in June 2000 as an information site to support Tessa's work for landlords. However it was decided to re-develop this as a subscription information service, and this service went live on 29 November 2001.

A new version of Landlord Law was then developed and went live on 14 December 2010. The membership levels were also changed with the introduction of a new +Plus membership type with special access rights.  Including access to the popular ‘Do it Yourself eviction kit’.  The tenant membership was discontinued at the end of 2014 although some tenant services are provided elsewhere.

The next change was in 2017 when Landlord Law merged with our training company, formerly Easy Law Training Ltd but now re-named Landlord Law Services Ltd to reflect this change.

Landlord Law continues to evolve and new services are planned for 2017/18.

About Tessa

Tessa is a specialist residential landlord & tenant lawyer and author.

Between August 1994 and September 2013 Tessa ran her own law firm TJ Shepperson and Landlord Law was part of that service.  However in 2013 Tessa took the decision to close TJ Shepperson to allow her more time to concentrate on Landlord Law and her other business. Agreement was reached with top housing Solicitors Anthony Gold at that time to be associated with Landlord Law and provide solicitors services to members via the site (to replace those formerly provided by Tessa) and also to help with providing background information for the service.

As well as running Landlord-Law, Tessa is joint director of Easy Law Training and runs an ecommerce / publishing website at Your Law Store.

She is the author of three books published by Lawpack Publishing and a number of other self published books at the Your Law Store website. She regularly gives talks on Residential Landlord and Tenant law to both landlords and to solicitors, and writes for property newsletters and the press.

Tessa works with her husband Graeme Gee (who is also a director of the company) and they live in Norwich with their son Patrick, who now works with her in the business.

Our service and equality and discrimination

One of the benefits of the Landlord Law site is that it makes it easy for people who are disadvantaged to find out their legal rights and obligations  - most people have a computer and internet service and if not, there is always the public library!

Landlord Law welcomes members and clients from all backgrounds and there is no discrimination.  Many of our members are from ethnic minorities, who appreciate the ease of using our service.

At present we have no plans to hire any staff but were we to do so, we would not knowingly discriminate on the grounds of sex, race or any other basis (save suitability for the job we are recruiting for).
